Hospitality Comes Full Circle

Senior Profile: Bob & Lynn Patton

Bob and Lynn Patton traded life in a busy New York City suburb for what they describe as “paradise,” when they purchased Pine Hill Farm Bed & Breakfast, located on a century old 300-acre working farm and hillside in Historic Milford, Pennsylvania. The property included a farmhouse, carriage house, waterfall, old logging paths, breathtaking views of three states and the Delaware River Valley, and an expansive backdrop of the Kittatinny Mountains. 

Lynn told us, “There’s something about running a B&B that calls for an extra level of care: the ability to really connect with your guests, patience to do things right the first time, making sure your guests’ needs are met, and being readily accessible to them. And, that’s what we did!”

There was a true sense of serenity on that farm for all who came to visit, and the Pattons made an extra special effort to please guests’ palates by preparing unique dishes with fresh, local ingredients. For example, their “Eggs McLynn” was made with brandied peaches from the property and homemade bread from the kitchen. Dining at Pine Hill Farm was as it should be: a shared, communal experience with meals served in a setting which encouraged socialization.

When grandchildren came along, Bob and Lynn decided it was time to move south to be closer to their family. Finding a new home to replace what they were leaving behind was a challenge; but they found it at Sterling Estates of West Cobb, discovering the same level of attention to detail and care they had always offered their own guests in Milford. Choosing an independent cottage has allowed them to stay active with their grandchildren, family and friends, without the responsibilities of home ownership and maintenance. 

Lynn is especially impressed with the dining options and tells us, “While our cottage has a complete kitchen, we regularly dine at The Sterling Grill, a casual bistro on site with an open grill and meals cooked to order right in front of you. It’s like a country club or B&B dining experience.” In June, the new Sterling clubhouse, The Club, will open with indoor and outdoor patio dining.

Lynn sums things up saying, “Sterling is ‘home’ for us now, and our Sterling ‘innkeepers’ provide Bob and me the same gracious living and lifestyle we used to give our own guests in Milford, and we are so grateful. It is like ‘coming full circle.”

Today, Bob courageously battles Alzheimer’s with Lynn’s strong support. The Patton family is participating in Atlanta’s 2019 Walk To End Alzheimer’s this Fall to honor Bob. Sterling Estates is joining in with its own walking team, as well. To participate, call  (770)  255-7000.
